Insurance questions and information are handled by the Bureau of Insurance. The Bureau produces a number of Consumer Guides and offers information of particular interest to Senior Citizens, as well as different topics for Consumer Outreach. The Bureau also houses the Office of the Managed Care Ombudsman.  

The Bureau licenses, regulates, investigates and examines insurance companies, agencies and agents on behalf of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Bureau reviews insurance policies to ensure compliance with Virginia law, monitors insurance companies' activities to make sure they conduct their business according to statutory and regulatory requirements, evaluates the financial condition of insurance companies and the ability to pay claims; and ensures that the citizens of Virginia will have access to adequate and reliable insurance protection.
