Volunteer opportunities at The Center (formerly Senior Center)
Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) is volunteer group for women who are veterans. Volunteer activities will be speeches, trips and the annual picnic. WAVES meet from 10:30am - 11:45 on the fourth Friday of most months. Luncheons are on first Saturday of December and June.
Volunteers at The Center maintain The Rose Garden and help with the periodic yard sales. Contact Jane at 434.974.7756 or Phyllis at 434.973.5130 to volunteer. Donations are welcome.
Other volunteer opportunities are available with various services including: UVA, Martha Jefferson Hospital, The Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, the Food Bank, Charlottesville Free Clinic, Gordon Avenue Library and other. The Center coordinates the Foster Grandparent Program, and other volunteer programs.
The Building and Grounds Committee meets to analyze building problems and needs at The Center and to develop action plans for members to address.
