Who We Are

The League of Mercy (LOM) is a visitation program that connects volunteers and Salvation Army officers and soldiers to those with special needs in hospitals, nursing home and correctional facilities. Volunteers of all ages participate in various ways to provide assistance to persons in need, whether they are seniors who need a brown bag lunch or are homebound, or visiting patients at a local hospital, nursing home, assisted living and offering friendship, spiritual support and comfort items such as shampoo, stationery, combs and robe.

The main objective of the League of Mercy is to respond to the spiritual and social needs of the community. The ministry is adapted according to the local situation, the size of its membership and the skill of its members, and endeavors to follow Christ’s injunction, ‘Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me’ (Matthew 25:40, AV).

The Salvation Army has many areas for volunteers to assist in programs to care for the poor, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, love the unlovable and befriend those who have no friends. Call the office for details.
